授業科目の内容

This class will guide students through the process of a writing a simple academic essay in English and will also teach them how to make a short presentation. We will start by reading three short stories together which we will analyze and discuss. We will then work through a number of exercises that will help us to turn our individual ideas about one of these stories into a more formal academic response. Students will learn how to write an introduction with an engaging opening and a clear thesis. They will also learn how to organize their ideas into clear paragraphs; how to accurately and responsibly quote, summarize, and paraphrase the writing of others; and how to write a clear conclusion that will leave their readers with a strong final impression. The class will be interactive and will provide opportunities for students to work together and to discuss ideas in English. They will receive individual feedback on their writing and presentation skills.
