授業科目の内容

Stories play an integral part of our lives. Through stories we learn what is important to people of a particular society. Understanding how and why stories make us feel is therefore an essential part of becoming fluent in a foreign language. In this class, students will first read / watch and then retell stories that they have seen. The course will begin with a story in which students will have to watch and then write a short summary. Afterwards the teacher will teach about the main parts of a story (the narrative framework). This narrative framework will change with each class, enabling students to go deeper. Though evaluation will focus on what it said and written, students will have an opportunity to also develop their listening and reading skills.

第1回講義内容
An introduction to the course. Students will be asked to tell a story about themselves. The teacher will then introduce the narrative framework and the whole class will attempt to summarize the same story. Afterwards, we will share our answers. There will be time for students to ask questions.

第2回講義内容
After a quick chit chat with other students, the teacher will review the narrative framework. A new story will be assigned and students will have a limited time to watch, record and prepare to tell other students what the story was about using the narrative framework. Afterwards, the teacher will go over different ways to take notes.

第3回講義内容
Once again, the class starts with a chit chat. Afterwards, the teacher will review the narrative framework. Students will be given a link to a new story. Students will once again watch, record, organize, and retell the story to their peers. Once done, the teacher will move onto the topic of stating an opinion.

第4回講義内容
The class begins with a chit chat. Next, the teacher will review the narrative framework and stating an opinion. Students will be given a link to a new story. Homework - students find their own story to share with other students (this may be done in pairs).

第5回講義内容

第6回講義内容
Chit chat to start the class, Afterwards, the teacher reviews the discussion framework. To better understand the discussion framework, students will be given a few topics to prepare (note-taking), the teacher will then assign students to different groups to discuss one of the topics. Afterwards, a new link to a story will be provided and students will do a narrative framework and discuss the opinion statement provided by the teacher.

第7回講義内容
